Karnataka Advocate General accords consent to prosecute MP
Bangalore, Jun 19 (UNI) Karnataka Advocate General Uday Holla has accorded permission to Doordarshan Kendra Director Mahesh Joshi here to initiate criminal contempt proceedings against Congress Lok Sabha member R L Jalappa on a letter written to Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting.
Mr Uday Holla, disposing off an application by Mr Joshi seeking consent for initiating criminal contempt proceedings against Mr Jalappa, stated that in the letter written by him (Mr Jalappa) was tend to scandalise the court and judges.
Mr Joshi had approached the Advocate General seeking permission after Mr Jalappa written a letter to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting in which he had accused that the Director, Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra was facing corruption charges, indulged in misuse of official power and had managed the judiciary to wriggle out of Corruption cases filed by CBI. Mr Jalappa also sought the transfer of Mr Joshi from Bangalore from the Minister.
Terming the charges made by Mr Jalappa was reckless, baseless and untrue, Mr Joshi approached the Advocate General to accord sanction to initiate criminal contempt proceedings.
