IT sleuths conduct survey on commodity broker aT Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad, Jun 19 (UNI) Income Tax officials conducted a 'survey' on a broker dealing in commodity trading in the city, IT sources said today.
The survey was initiated on the broker's premises at the posh C G Road area as a follow up to the ongoing raids in different parts of the country on commodity brokers, dealing with future trading in commodities, the sources said.
However, market sources here said this was part of a routine investigation by authorities.
In a statement, Multi-Commodity Exchange Deputy Managing Director Joseph Massey said the Income Tax Department had carried out routine investigation at its offices in Mumbai. ''The exchange has complied with all rules and regulations and all laws of the land,'' he said.
The statement came in the wake of the raids carried out by the tax authorities at MCX offices and offices of several commodity brokers across the country.
