INL hails formation of UNPA, welcomes to back Kalam
Chennai, June 19: The Tamil Nadu unit of Indian National League (INL) today hailed the formation of United National Progressive Allaince (UNPA) under the leadership of AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa.
In a statement here, INL State President M Basheer Ahamed said INL also welcomed the decision of UNPA to bring back President A P J Abdul Kalam in the ensuing Presidential poll as per the resolution adopted at INL's recent general body meeting.
He pointed out that the decision of UNPA comprising eight parties to support Dr Kalam for a second term would be a turning point in the presidential poll.
Stating that the newly formed UNPA, a viable alternative to Congress and communal BJP, would rule the country in future, Mr Ahamed said. The UNPA would protect the rights and interest of the minorities, he added.
