Haryana farmers get Rs 1283 cr more for wheat produce

Chandigarh, June 19 (UNI) Farmers in Haryana have got Rs 1283 crore more than the last year by selling their wheat produce to the six government procuring agencies in the state during the current rabi season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said the farmers were paid a total amount of Rs 2844.49 crore for the purchase of 33.46 lakh MTs of wheat at the rate of Rs 850 per quintal, including Rs 100 as bonus.

He said during the last season, the farmers of the state were paid a sum of Rs 1561.57 crore at the rate of Rs 700 per quintal, including a bonus of Rs 50 per quintal.

Mr Chander Mohan said that during the current rabi season HAFED had purchased 12.89 lakh MTs of wheat and had disbursed a sum of Rs 1095.78 crore while Food and Supplies Department had procured 8.13 lakh MTs on payment of Rs 691.67 crore.

Food Corporation of India had procured 3.49 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 297.11 crore while Agro Industries Corporation purchased 3.33 lakh MTs of wheat and on payment of Rs 283.56 crore.

Similarly, Haryana Warehousing Corporation had procured 2.93 lakh MTs of wheat and made a payment of Rs 249.78 crore. Confed purchased 2.66 lakh MTs on a payment of Rs 226.59 crore.
