Get ready for litmus test, Digvijay tells Cong cadre

Hyderabad, June 19 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Digvijay Singh today exhorted party workers to get ready to ensure the ruling party's victory, both at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh in the 2009 elections, overcoming the anti-incumbency factor.

Addressing the valedictory session of the three-day political training camp for party workers from eight districts, he noted that in 2004, the TDP and the BJP had to face anti-incumbency.

Complimenting Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for taking up developmental projects and welfare schemes to benefit the downtrodden, Mr Singh, a victim of the anti-incumbency factor in Madhya Pradesh, earlier opined that, the ''anti-incumbency factor will definitely be there to some extent against any government, ministers and ruling party MLAs.'' Observing that the Congress had to now fight against the cadre-based BJP at the national level on the one hand and the regional party in the State on the other, Mr Singh, who christened 2007 as the year of interaction with party workers, asked them to agitate to get public grievances resolved as a last resort after bringing them to the notice of officials and district in-charge Ministers.
