TN: Fire in Ayyampettai, 1 lk materials burnt

Kancheepuram, June 19: A massive fire has broken out at Ayyampettai area near here, destroying materials worth Rs 1 lakh.

According to the Police, the mishap occurred yesterday when fire broke out in the storage of kerosene, petrol and gas cylenders allegedelly stored for adulteration and illegal sales by Azhagesan, a resident of Ayyampettai.

It took about four-hour to bring the situation under control by Fire tenders who had advised the nearby residents to shift elsewhere for the time being and removed the gas cylinders from the spot to avert further damage.

Investigation was underway, police said.
