Efforts aggrevated to lead Taj among 'seven Wonders'

Lucknow, June 19 (UNI) The Seven Wonders Taj Awareness Committee has called people of the nation to vote for the Taj Mahal and help it attain number one position among the 'New 7 Wonders' of the world.

Talking to mediapersons here today, committee chairperson M A Siddhiqi and Media controller of Human Heritage Promotion Foundation I N Khan said ''that at present the Taj was among 10 wonders of the world.

''Including the snow white monument in 'Seven Wonders' has become a national issue, therefore public ought to pitch in and vote for it.

With a view to create awareness among people, the committee had organised an 'International Kavi Sammelan and Mushayara' on June 30, where a number of noted Hindi and Urdu poets will encourage people to start voting, Mr Khan said.

Leaving no stone unturned, the committee had send its proposal to the Tourism Department for organising a grand function at New Delhi.

If the Taj makes it to the 'seven wonders', it would attract more tourists in India, he said.

Apprising about the efforts made to 'crown' the Taj, Mr Siddhiqi said famous personalities of the silver screan like Amitabh Bachchan, newsly-wed couple Abhishek-Aishwarya, Rani Mukherji, Priyanka Chopra and A R Rehman had also compaigned for the 'monument of love.' UNI
