Fatehgarh Sahib, June 19 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) senior vice president Daljit Singh Bittu joined police investigation in a sedition case against him.

Daljit Singh was booked by the district police on May 31 on charges of sedition after he raised provocative slogans during a protest march organised against chief of Dera Sacha Sauda.

Bittu had come here today to attend Sant Samaj meeting held at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Gurdwara. He was later escorted by police vehicles to the police station where a sedition case was registered against him on May 31.

The police questioned him for a few hours.

Fatehgarh Sahib SHO Darshan Singh said the police had been keeping track of Daljit Singh Bittu's movements and his associates in order to prevent any untoward incident during the Sant Samaj meeting here to press for the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda head Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Daljit had earlier offered to join the investigations but the police had refused to let him do so.

He later approached a court, which directed the police to allow him to join the investigations. The court had also stayed his arrest till June 21.
