Congress has lost right to govern, says BJP

Shimla, June 19 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today asserted that the state Congress Government had lost the right to govern the state after the defeat of its candidate in the Hamirpur Parliamentary elections recently.

All the actions of the government after the defeat of its candidate point out that it has realised that its days in office were limited as proved by a major administrative reshuffle recently, state party President Jai Ram Thakur said in a release here.

He said people across the state were being harassed for LPG cylinders as they had to book cylinders in months advance whereas during the BJP's tenure, cylinder booking was just a phone call away.

Even though Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was himself looking after the PWD Department, yet he was unaware of the fact that the charcoal used for repairing roads was out of stock as a result of which repairing work was being affected, he said.

Mr Thakur said Markanda Bridge, the lifeline to Kala Amb in Sirmaur district, had been closed for vehicular traffic owing to repair work for the last one month and the Boon Bridge on the only alternate route needs immediate repairs.

Unless the bridge was repaired soon, it would collapse and cause loss of life and property, he said.

Besides, he said Kala Amb would be cut off from the rest of the state if it collapsed.

The BJP leader also accused the state government of failing to carry out any repair or improvement on the Chandigarh-Baddi Road, which was in a state of neglect since the state Congress Government came to power over four year ago.

While on one hand, people of the entire state were in distress, the government was least concerned with their problems, he said.

Mr Thakur said the people of the state would give a befitting reply to the Congress in the February 2008 Assembly elections and remove them from power.
