Centre releases Rs 7.21 crore aid, 4993 MT food grains to J

Srinagar, June 19 (UNI) The centre has released Rs 7.21 crore aid and 4993 metric tonnes of food grains under the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) to Jammu and Kashmir for the current financial year, officials said today.

They said grants-in-aid amounting to Rs 7.21 crore as balance of first installment have been released to the seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir, as Central assistance for the implementation of the SGRY by the Ministry of Rural Development during the current financial year.

Officials said Baramulla, Budgam, Kathua, Pulwama, Rajouri, Srinagar and Udhampur have been allocated Rs 41.32, Rs 32.93, Rs 39.

32, Rs 34.36, Rs 45.39, Rs 31.75 and Rs 52.36 lakh respectively.

The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines, they said.

The Rural Development has approved the release of 1400 MT of Wheat and 3593 MT of Common Rice (total 4993 MT) during the year 2007-08 to these through the Food Corporation of India (FCI) depots in the State under the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) scheme.

The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilised for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines.

During the year 2007-08, foodgrains be given to the labourers under SGRY at the rate of three Kg instead of five Kg per man-day as part of wages.

The state government must ensure timely payment of wages and adequate supply of foodgrains.
