BJYM protests Siddhivinak Temple's ban on offerings

Mumbai, June 19 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the BJP's youth wing, today protested against the Siddhivinayak Temple Trust's decision to ban coconuts and offerings inside the temple, by breaking 101 coconuts outside the temple premises.

''Are we living in India or Pakistan? How can the devotees be stopped from making offerings and praying to God?'' asked Mumbai North West BJYM president Rajesh Shirvadkar.

He alleged that since the administration was unable to deal with terrorists with a firm hand, it is the devotees who un-necessarily had to face problems and their sentiments were hurt.

Mr Shirvadkar threatened that if the ban is not lifted, the BJYM activists will hold protests outside the offices of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

The Siddhivinayak Temple management has since yesterday banned offerings citing security reasons.
