BJP ready to support if Kalam agrees, says Rajnath

Raipur, Jun 19 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh today indicated that his party could consider supporting President A P J Abdul Kalam if he agrees to run for a second term.

''We are ready to support Dr Kalam. Once he agrees for a second term, efforts will be made for a consensus in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in this regard'', he told newsmen here at the Mana airport.

The BJP chief's indication comes at a time when Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat had already hinted that he could withdraw from the Presidential election if there was a consensus on President Kalam as suggested by the 'Third Front.' UNI
