Goa: Australia provides expertise to businesses
Panaji, June 19: Australia can provide value-added competitive solutions and expertise, both in traditional and emerging sectors, for business in Goa, Australia Consul General and Trade Commissioner Peter Forby said.
He was speaking at a seminar held yesterday on 'Doing business with Australia', organised by Australian Trade Commission along with Queensland Government Trade and Investment office in association with Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr Forby was accompanied by David Belham, the Commissioner of Queensland government Trade and Investment office.
Mr Forby told mediapersons that the seminar is a part of the Australian Trade Commission's Utsav Australia (Celebrate Australia) programme.
He said the Australian government's initiative is to accelerate Australia's commercial engagement with India to raise awareness about Australian business and industry among Indian business community, in line with the Utsav Australia programme.
The Australian trade Commission is running a seminar series across India on doing business with Australia and seminar in Goa is a part of the series, Mr Forby added.
He said the value add-on to businesses in Goa is Australia's expertise in Food, Hospitality and Tourism while Mining, Information Technology, Marine technology are strengths of Goa.
Mr David Belham said Queensland is rapidly growing its commercial engagement with India and India is currently Queensland's third largest export market.
An increasing number of Queensland exporter are securing business in mining services and technologies, education and training, tourism, aviation and biotechnology. The Queensland Government is committed to strengthening Queensland- India relationships through the trade from Queensland office in Bangalore and dedicated Mining adviser in Jamshedpur, he added.
