320 kg poppy husk seized in anti-smuggling drive

Moga, June 19 (UNI) With the seizure of another 30 kg of poppy husk from a smuggler of Daulewala village known for illicit distillation of liquor, the district police claimed to have recovered a total of 320 kg of poppy husk in the special anti-smuggling drive during the last four days.

According to SSP Devinder Singh Garcha police arrested Avtar Singh after recovery of the poppy husk from him.

Earlier, 210 kg poppy husk was seized by the Dharamkot police from Kishanpura village two days ago but the unknown poppy husk smugglers escaped from near the drain bridge before the police arrived, he said.

The police seized the abandoned contraband and had registered a case against unknown persons.

Also, Baghapurana police had recently recovered 80 kg of poppy husk --- 70 kg from Sekha Kalan village and 10 Kg from Laina village and arrested two notorious smugglers in this respect.
