Women trained in self-defence should become role model: Lt Gov

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today said women trained in self defence should act as a ''change agent'' for women empowerment.

''With the newly acquired self defence skills and raised confidence level, the trained women should become role model for others,'' Mr Khanna said in his address at the closing function of the Summer Camp 2007 on self Defence for Women and Road Safety organised by Delhi Police.

Mr Khanna suggested that video of the self-defence training programme be shown in schools and colleges for sensitisation of girl students.

The Lt Governor gave away certificate to senior most participant--69-year-old Dr Aasha Saran, Around 40,000 women have received training in the Summer Camps, which were started in 2002.
