Veteran comedian, poet, writer dead
Amritsar, June 18 (UNI) Popular Punjabi writer, poet and comedian Chaman Lal Shugal died here after prolonged illness this morning.
He was 85.
Shugal had been under treatment in a private hospital here for sometime, family sources told UNI.
Shugal shot to popularity when his patriotic songs were broadcast on the AIR during the 1965 Indo-Pak war.
His songs were used in Bollywood films as well.
Shugal was cremated this afternoon in the presence of a large number of fans, friends and family members.
