Two minors of family killed, 4 injured as car hits footpath
New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) Two children were killed and four others of a family were injured when a car grazed past a pedestrian way, after slamming four vehicles, in Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi in the wee hours today.
While two children of the family -- Ankit (3) and Soni (6) -- died on the spot at Tigri Morh near Sainik Farms under Sangam Vihar police station, the injured were admitted to the various hospitals, a police official here said.
The incident took place at about 0300 hrs when a car, driven by Darpan Mallik, a call centre employee who was on way from his Faridabad office to his home in Janakpuri, lost control and rammed into four vehicles before hitting the family sitting on the pavement.
''Mallik (22) who was reportedly sozzled and driving fast has been arrested,'' the official added.
The family head Lal Singh (30), who suffered minor injuries caught the driver and informed the police, sources said.
His wife Suman and one-year-old daughter Anu were admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre while his brother-in-law Shyam Vir was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital with leg injuries.
The family, which had come from Agra, was waiting for an auto to reach to their Sangam Vihar Colony residence.
The family alleged that the police was reluctant in lodging an FIR and did so only at about 1000 hrs, seven hours after the accident.
