Traffic cop gets 1 yr prison term for demanding bribe
Anand, June 18 (UNI) A Fast Track court here sentenced a traffic constable of Thuleta village of Umreth taluka to a year's imprisonment for demanding a bribe of Rs 500 from a autorickshaw driver.
The Judge S I Kimbaliya also fined the constable Gordhanbhai Vhaijibhai Rs 5,000 and on failing to pay, an additional one month imprisonment.
Gordhanbhai had demanded Rs 500 from two autorickshaw drivers, both brothers and owning a common rickshaw. The two brothers then approached Nadiad ACB and on May 28, 2004 Gordhanbhai was caught accepting the bribe.
