Toonz gets distribution rights for ''Mr Bean'' in South Asia

Thiruvananthapuram, June 18 (UNI) Technopark-based Toonz Licensing has bagged distribution rights for Mr Bean, one of the world's most popular character brands, in South Asia.

The signing of the agreement between the Toonz Licensing, a wing of the Toonz Animation India, and the UK-based Tiger Aspect Productions coincided with the success of the film ''Mr Bean's Holiday'' in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Toonz Animation Chief Executive Officer Jayakumar today said under the agreement, the company would be the licensing agency for television, cinema and DVDs in these countries.

He said the agreement with the Tiger Aspect would further strengthen the Toonz's presence in the world animation industry.

Toonz already had tie-ups with Marvel, BBC, Hallmark, Paramount and Cartoon Network.

Stating that ''Mr Bean'' was already popular in Asia, he pointed out the live action and animated ''Mr Bean'' TV series had been in distribution around the world for 17 years and were currently broadcast in more than 190 countries.
