Bhagalpur,Jun 18 (UNI) A local court here today convicted 14 accused in the 1989 Bhagalpur riots case and will pronounce the sentence on June 27 rpt June 27.
Additional District and sessions judge Shambhunath Mishra found all the accused guilty under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 147,149,201 302 and 380.
Those found guilty include the then Assistant Sub Inspector Ram Chandar Singh and Chowkidar Thakur Paswan along with twelve others.
Altogether 116 people were killed in the riots on October 28, 1989, and 24 people, including an Officer-in-Charge of a local police station, were accused in the riot cases.
Six accused have already died during the hearing of the case while four other accused have been declared 'absconders' by the court.
