Punjab approves Rs 2 lakh aid for 84 riot-hit Sikhs

Phagwara, June 18 (UNI) The Punjab government has approved to give Rs 2 lakh each as compensation under the 'rehabilitation plan' to the victims of the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi and other places under the package of additional assistance for relief and their rehabilitation, Minister for technical education and industrial training Swarna Ram said here today.

Speaking at a function held at Guru Harkrishan Nagar Welfare and Development Society on the Banga Road here, the minister advised the affected families to give an application in this regard to their respective district deputy commissioners promply as June 30 is the last date.

The grant for those who migrated to Punjab would, however, be given to only those who were still living there, he added.
