Aizawl, Jun 18 (UNI) Mizoram Police have arrested the murderer of the 19-year-old Myanmarese maid, within four days of the crime, police said today.

Myanmarese maid Boichhinsung was found murdered inside her room in employer JC Ramthanga's house at Zarkawt, on June 10.

David Vanlaltlanchhuaha(27), resident of Salem Veng, was arrested on June 14 in connection with a burglary case last year.

Vanlaltlanchhuaha was a suspect in the 2006 Skylinks cable TV office burglary case, where Rs 74,000 was stolen. The police had long been after him, police sources confirmed.

''On learning that Vanlaltlanchhuaha frequently came out to play volleyball in a playground in the locality, we laid a trap for him, and he landed in our net on June 14. He broke down and confessed of the burglary of the Skylinks office,'' police said.

On further interrogation, he was unable to deny his involvement in the murder of the 19-year-old Myanmarese maid, police officials said.

''Since his own testimony strongly pointed that he was the killer, he could not help breaking down and ultimately confessed to committing the murder as well,'' police added.

According to his confession, Vanlaltlanchhuaha set out at around 1000 hrs last Sunday towards the house of JC Ramthanga at Zarkawt where the maid worked, with the intention to steal.

Vanlaltlanchhuaha was well acquainted with the family as he had stayed with them for some time in 2004.

However, when the maid, on realising his intentions, tried to foil his attempt, he silenced her by strangling her and slitting her throat.

Nevertheless, the killer went back empty-handed as he could not find any valuables in the house.

Police sources also claimed that the finger prints left at the crime scene matched with that of the suspect.
