Oil leakage to affect power supply to Hyderabad
Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) One of the 315 MVA Inter Connecting Transformers (ICT) at 400/220 KV Ghanapur Substation of Power Grid had developed oil leak at 'Y' phase bushing on the 400 KV side.
APTRANSCO, the manufacturer, was asked for immediate replacement of the defective bushing as any delay in this regard would result in total failure of the ICT while was shut down by the Power Grid last evening.
APTRANSCO took up the matter immediately with the Power Grid, as the 400/220 KV Ghanapur substation of Power Grid was one of the major sources of power supply to the city and neighbouring areas. There was a possibility that the remaining two ICTs would also trip due to overload, a statement said.
Hence, APTRANSCO had reconstructed the network to feed the loads to the maximum possible extent and loads to the extent of 150 to 200 MW would be interrupted in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and neighbouring places to ensure safe operation of the remaining ICTs.
Power Grid had mobilised its full machinery and arranged 400 KV bushing, the required transformer oil and experts from the manufacturers to undertake the rectification work. The ICT was expected back in service by June 21, the statement added.
