MOTURU award presented jointly to Eenadu Journalists

Tirupati, June 18 (UNI) Two Eenadu Journalists were peresented jointly the ''Prajashakti Founder and Editor Moturu Hanumantha Rao Memorial Award-2006 in a function to commemorate his sixth death anniversary, organised by Prajashakti Sahithi here today.

The best award-2006 was jointly presented to Uppuluri Murali Krishna and Vundru Narsimha Rao of Eenadu for their informative stories on ''land scams'' by the Chief Guest and 'THE HINDU' Associate Editor Siddartha Varadarajan.

While, senior journalist and award select committee president Potturi Venkateswara Rao has presented in memory of V R Bhommi Reddy, best journalists award-2006 to K S V Prasad Rao and Shapeevulla, of Prajashakti for their excellent news contribution.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Varadarajan, explained about the merits and demerits of India's Nuclear treaty with United States.

Potturi Venkateswara Rao said Hanumantha Rao had rendered yeomen services with enormous commitment to the daily and the society.

Expressing displeasure over the present news scenrio, Mr Venkateswara said even after 60 years of Independence, it was unfortunate that we were talking about land reforms. The political leaders were still purchasing thousands of lands, he rued.

Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD) Executive Officer, Ramanachary said in the present society, rowdies were treated as heroes and urged the Journalists to consider the pros and cons of the situation before publishing the news. The journalists should work hard in providing the right path to the youth in the society, he added.

Prajashakti Editor Vinay Kumar said the award in memory of Moturu was in existence for the last five years. The cash award and citation were presented, based on the relevance of the news to the burning issues crippling the society, he added.

Mr Kumar said a building would be constructed in memory of Hanumantha Rao at an estimated cost of Rs five crore by collecting donations in Hyderabad.
