Monsoon breaks over Chhattisgarh
Bhopal, June 18 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon today registered an emphatic arrival in neighbouring Chhattisgarh and is likely to break over Madhya Pradesh in a couple of days though it normally arrives by June 13.
''The Chhattisgarh capital Raipur and several parts of that state recorded healthy showers. A system is forming over the Bay of Bengal,'' said Regional Meteorological Centre Director D P Dubey.
Pre-monsoon rain is continuing over Madhya Pradesh whose capital witnessed squalls and precipitation exceeding 2.6 cm until evening.
Upper air cyclonic circulation existed in the vicinity of Vidarbha.
Overnight rainfall figures were Khajuraho 5 cm, Sagar 2 cm, Malajkhand and Rajgarh 1 cm each.
Chhattisgarh's figures were Raipur 6 cm; Bilaspur, Sarangarh, Malkharauda 5 cm each; Lormi, Bilha, Champa 4 cm each; Patan, Dhamdha, Ambagarh, Marwahi and Pali 3 cm each.
