MCX turnover at Rs 2,950.7 cr

Mumbai, June 18 (UNI) The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 2,950.7 crore in the first session and total number of trades was 55,520.

MCX Comdex--the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices--was up 0.19 per cent at 2167.60 points.

The MCX Metal Index was up at 0.52 per cent at 2559.31 points, MCX Energy Index was down at 2230.66 points, and MCX Agri Index ended at 1691.60 points, a MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 1031.41 crore of which gold was Rs 640.11 crore and silver Rs 391.3 crore. Gold contract volumes were 7,262 kgs and open interest was 14,719 kg while silver volumes were 215,015 kgs and open interest was 572,710 kg.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, gained between Rs 26 and Rs 30 per 10 gm, with the August contracts up 0.32 per cent at Rs 8815 per ten gm.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, gained between Rs 49 and 96 per kg. The July contract was up half a per cent at Rs 18,156 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 804.53 crore with volume of 25,881,000 kg and open interest of 14,147,000 kg. Copper contracts traded up between Rs 3.75 and Rs 4.10 per kg with the June contract advancing by 1.24 per cent at Rs 311.45 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 396.74 crore with volume of 25,755 tonnes and oil of 28,645 tonnes. Zinc contracts moved up between Rs 0.75 and Rs 0.80 per kg with the June contract up at Rs 154.00 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 242.99 crore with volume of 1,381,000 kg and open interest of 904,000 kg. Nickel for June delivery was down by 0.83 per cent at Rs 1,748.10 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 10.68 crore with volume of 954 tonnes and open interest of 6,286 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was up 0.72 per cent at Rs 111.5 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
