MCD fails to get relief from SC for illegal construction

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) The Supreme Court today declined to extend the deadline of May 31, 2007 fixed by Delhi High Court for receiving applications for regularisation of unauthorised constructions in Delhi.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and PP Naolekar directed that the petition filed by MCD shall be heard on July 26 along with the main case. The Supreme Court is examining Master Plan Delhi 2021 .

The MCD had earlier sought the extension of deadline on the ground that it will not be possible to receive large number of applications and processing them in such a short period of time.

The Supreme Court had already banned the construction of third storey and above in the national capital.
