Mah govt signs MoUs with 5 companies

Mumbai, June 18 (UNI) The Maharashtra Government today signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with five companies to bring in investment to the tune of Rs 2,200 crore.

The companies, who signed the MoUs are Jindal Poly Films, Jabil Circuit India, Modi Fibres, Oswal F M, Hammerie Textiles and Sona Alloys Ltd. The function was held at the Sahaydri Guest House in South Mumbai.

Principal Secretary (Industries) V K Jairath signed the MoUs on behalf of the government in the presence of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Finance Minister Jayant Patil, Power Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Marketing Minister Harshvardhan Patil, Industries Minister Ashok Chavan, Minister of state for Water Resources Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar and Chief Secretary Johnny Joseph.

The MoU with Jindal Poly Films Ltd is for the expansion of BOPP film making plant at Mundegaon in Nashik. The first phase of the plant's expansion is already complete and the second phase is on.

This will generate large number of employment and will bring in Rs 250 crore.

Jabil's MoU for manufacturing high technology products for export as well as for domestic market will create job opportunities in the state. The company has projected to invest 100 million dollars for its operations expansion in India. Sona Alloys's MoU is to set up a Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant at MIDC Lonand in Satara district, spread over 250 acres at an investment of Rs 350 crore.

Modi Fibres's MoU is to facilitate a state-of-the art viscose fibre production plant at MIDC Patalganga. Investment of Rs 900 crore will be made through this venture in the state.

Oswal F M Hammerie Textiles Ltd's MoU is to establish a yarn dye project at Kagal, Kolhapur. The project would cost about Rs 295 crore and generate substantial employment in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Deshmukh said the objective behind inviting these companies to set up their units was to direct the industrial growth to different corners of the state.
