Lathicharge on CPM activists

Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, June 18 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge and arrested CPI (M) activists when they were staging a dharna in Nellore town in protest against the arrest of party activists at Kottur village.

Police said the Left activists along with district unit leaders were arrested for occupying more than 100 acres of government land as part of its 'land occupation' agitation launched recently.

The irate Left activists demand the release of the arrested.

Several activists were injured in the lathicharge and were admitted to nearby hospitals.
