JMM should withdraw support on delimitation issue: Munda
Seraikela, Jun 18 (UNI) Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda today said the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the main constituent of the UPA government in the state, should withdraw its support to the nine-month-old Koda government on delimitation issue.
Talking to media persons here on the sidelines of a workshop on ''Right to Information'', Mr Munda termed the JMM and the Congress' approach on the Delimitation Commission's proposal to reduce the Assembly seats of the scheduled tribes from 26 to 21 was nothing but "formal".
'' If the JMM is really concerned about the Commission's proposal, the party must pull off its support and exert pressure on the UPA government at the centre to amend the constitutional provision, '' Mr Munda said.
Flaying the role of the Congress on the delimitation issue, the BJP leader said both the Congress and the JMM were maintaining ''political formality''. Instead of lodging protests, the Congress should bring about necessary amendment in the Constitution to preserve the rights of the adivasis and if the Congress failed to do so, it would be clear that the party was hatching a conspiracy to finish the tribals, Mr Munda remarked.
He alleged that the Congress had always maintained a negative stance on adivasis.
Mr Munda informed that the BJP would meet in Delhi on July 24 to discuss about the delimitation issue.
About the delay in announcing Resettlement and Rehablilitation (R&R) policy by the Jharkhand government, Mr Munda quipped, '' They (Madhu Koda government) are confused. My government has already prepared the blueprint of the policy but the present government is not sincere enough to announce the policy early. '' Earlier, addressing a workshop on ''Right to Information Act-2005: Implementation and Execution'', Mr Munda said the people should be aware about their rights and the concerned officials should also create awareness about the act.
Stressing on the need to develop a system, Mr Munda blamed the bureaucrats for not discharging their duties to apprise the common mass of the act.
The BJP would organise seminars and workshops in all the districts of the state to create awareness among the people about their rights, Mr Munda said and added that the democratic system would be strengthened if the people know about the power of the act.
The Jharkhand information commissioners and the district deputy commissioner also attended the workshop, organised by Social, Cultural, Economical and Educational Development Trust of Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
