Iron Ore mining industry to continue as a public utility sector
New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) The services in the Iron Ore Mining Industry will continue as a public utility service under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 for another six months effective from today.
According to an official notification issued here, this is being done in the public interest. Earlier, the services in the industry were declared a public utility for six months from June 18, 2006 and subsequently for another six months from December 18, 2006.
The employees in the said industry would, among other things, be required to give notice to their employers six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike.
