Industrialist arrested on pilferage of electricity
Barrackpore, Jun 18 (UNI) A subdivisional court here today granted conditional bail to a Dum Dum-based industrialist, to pay off at least Rs three lakhs to the CESC for alleged pilferage of electricity in his factory.
Additional District and Session judge Dibyojyoti Dey granted an interim bail to Mr Amar Goswami (57) of East Sinthi under Dum Dum police station in North 24 Parganas When he was produced before the court and a bail petition was filed on his behalf.
Mr Goswami, a brother of a West Bengal minister, was arrested yesterday afternoon for alleged pilferage of electricity in his card-board factory at Bediapara near Dum Dum Railway station under DumDum police station following a joint raid conducted by the CESC and police.
CESC after detecting hacking of electricity discontinued the supply of electricity to the factory and lodged an FIR with the police against Mr Goswami, the owner of the factory.
The court granted him bail on condition that the accused shall pay Rs three lakhs to the CESC by July 2 next, according to court source here today.
