Idols worth Rs 5 crore recovered in UP, 5 arrested

Lucknow, June 18 (UNI) An inter-state gang of idol smugglers was busted by the Gazipur police today with arrest of five people and recovery of 20 idols valued at Rs five crore in the international market.

According to police, five of the recovered idols were made of 'asthadhatu' and one of 'panchdhatu'.

The gang, which included a woman, was busted when police, on a tip-off, raided Usri village in Mohammadabad police station and Mircha village in Dildarnagar police station areas of Gazipur district.

Investigation was underway to nab other members of the gang.
