ICRISAT rated 'outstanding' among CGIAR centres
Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has been rated 'outstanding' for its performance in 2006, among the 15 international agricultural research centres under the 'Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research'(CGIAR).
A release from ICRISAT said the rating was based on the results of the performance measurement system developed by the CGIAR and the World Bank, which took into account how each of the CGIAR Centres fared with regards to outputs, impact, quality and relevance of research, institutional and financial health and stakeholder participation.
'Outstanding' is the highest rating and this entitled ICRISAT for a funding support of $ 2.4 million during 2007 from the World Bank.
''This is a great news and a well-deserved recognition for the hard work of the leadership and team of ICRISAT'' said Dr Simon Best, Chairman of the ICRISAT Governing Board.
Its Director General William D Dar said the achievement was possible due to the strategic guidance and support of the governing board, quality science, judicious management and hard work of all members of ICRISAT team-- both from Asia and Sub Saharan Africa.
