Haryana raises financial aid to ex-sevicemen

Chandigarh, Jun 18 (UNI) The Haryana government has enhanced the amount of financial assistance admissible to those ex-servicemen who have served prior to August 31, 1945.

The enhancement of assistance from Rs 800 to Rs 1000 per month would be effective from April one this year, a spokesman for Haryana Rajya Sainik Board said.

He said a number of steps had been taken by the state government for the welfare of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen.

The government had also enhanced the monthly pension admissible to freedom fighters from Rs 1400 to Rs 5125.

Also, the amount of financial assistance admissible to the members of Indian National Army (INA) for the marriage of their daughters ha been raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 21,000.

He said two per cent of the developed residential plots of up to six marlas had been reserved for freedom fighters and their dependents in the jurisdiction of municipalities and improvement trusts.

Besides, the financial assistance for ex-servicemen of World War-II and their widows had been raised from Rs 500 to Rs 800 per month.

He said that pension at a rate of Rs 600 per month was being given to those ex-servicemen, who were either 60 years old or above and not taking any kind of pension.
