Haryana govt gives relief to agricultural loanees

Chandigarh, Jun 18 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said his government had extended the scope of one time settlement scheme of Harco Bank to include those farmers who had availed the benefit of re-scheduling of their agricultural loans under the NABARD Scheme, 2005.

In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister said the decision to extend the scope of the scheme would additionally benefit more than 1.10 lakh farmers to the extent of Rs 137 crore.

He said a decision to this effect had been taken in view of the demand raised by the farmers that they were equally deserving persons as those who had already been covered under the one time settlement scheme announced by the state government in respect of members of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies.

He said these farmers had to pay only the principal amount outstanding as on March 31,2006 to get full waiver of interest as on March 31,2006. In order to avail the benefit of the scheme, he said, they should pay the amount before June 30 this year.
