Chandigarh, June 18 (UNI) The Haryana Health Department has launched an integrated 'Anti-Malaria Campaign' to combat Malaria, Chickungunya and Dengue in the state.

Apart from adopting traditional methods to control these vector born diseases, special stress is being laid on biological control of larva of mosquito vector by using 'Gambusia' fish in fresh water and 'Guppy' fish in polluted water, an official spokesman said.

He said the people were also being educated and motivated to use impregnated nets and curtains so as to control mosquitoes. He said the impregnated curtains were introduced last year on pilot-basis in Sonepat and this brought down malaria cases by 60 per cent.

In case the people purchased such curtains, the department would impregnate these curtains at district level.

He said a special anti-malaria month was being observed from June 15 with the key objective to enhance awareness regarding source and transmission risk, treatment and availability of services at different levels.
