Fourteen found guilty in Bhagalpur riot, order reserved
Bhagalpur,Jun 18 (UNI) A sessions court here today found fourteen people guilty in connection with the infamous 1989 Bhagalpur riot and reserved its judgement till June 25.
Additional District and sessions judge Shambhunath Mishra found all the accused guilty under Indian Penal Code(IPC)147,149,201 302 and 380.
Those found guilty include the then Assistant Sub Inspector Ram Chandar Singh and Chowkidar Thakur Paswan alongwith twelve others.
Altogether 116 people were killed in the riot on October 28,1989, and 24 people, including an Officer-in-Charge of a local police station, were made accused in the riot cases.
In the meantime six accused had already died during the hearing of the case while four other accused had been declared 'absconder' by the court.
