Escaped prisoner nabbed

Ahmedabad, Jun 18 (UNI) City crime branch sleuths today nabbed hardcore criminal Nasirkhan Mehmoodkhan Pathan alias Abduljaffar, who had escaped from SSG Hospital in Vadodara, where he was admitted for treatment on June 11, from Maninagar area of the city.

Acting on a tip-off, the crime branch team led by inspector Rajput kept a watch near CTM cross-road locality and nabbed Nasirkhan when he arrived there this morning, police sources said.

The accused had been arrested earlier by the Vadodara police for several serious crimes including murder and robberies.

On June 14 this year, the Vadodara Session Court had awarded 10 years imprisonment to Nasirkhan and his three accomplices -- Irshad Abdulhamid Sheikh alias Tanker, Zahiruddin Mansuri and Jahirmiya Ummarmiya Malek -- for their involvement in the theft of silver-bars worth Rs 60 lakh at Karjan village in Vadodara district in year 2003.

The accused was later handed over to the Vadodara police, the sources added.
