Thrissur, June 18 (UNI) The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) today launched the 'Second Guruvayoor Satyagraha' demanding entry into the Lord Sri Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor for all believers.

The DYFI called for a revival of renaissance values in the context of the recent 'Punyaham' (purification rites) in the temple.

Noted social critic and writer Sukumar Azhikode called upon the people to agitate against the old outdated customs. All the citizens have to be considered as Indians with regard to entery into places of worship in Independent India.

The BJP also staged a 'Sathyagraha of mothers' near the Lord Sri Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor demanding to protect Temple Rights.

Actress Sukumari lit the lamp. BJP state president P K Krishnadas delivered the key note address.

A controversy arose after Guruvayoor priests performed a purification ritual following the visit of Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi and his family to the temple for the naming ceremony of Mr Ravi's grandchild. His wife Mercy Ravi is a Christian by birth. The temple board had, however, last week apologised to Mr Ravi's family.
