aunpur, June 18 (UNI) The ongoing investigation into the irregularities in the Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) 2007 result by a seven-member probe team might take some more time.

''The probe is on...we are moving very carefully to detect the irregularities as reflected in the results. The technical errors are being detected, therefore, it may take some time to complete the whole probe,'' Principal Secretary, Medical Education Satyendra Kumar Raghuvanshi said.

Assuring the students, who appeared for the exam , be said ''we are working to detect the minute techinal errors, so that fair results could be declared.'' The team comprising Special Secretary, Medical Education, S K Raghuvanshi, Medical Education Director General Dr Kamal Sahni along with Technical Director of NIC S F A Naqwi, Registrar of UP Technical University, Dr U S Tomar and three others from Delhi yesterday reached Jaunpur to investigate the whole matter.

Dr Sahni had yesterday indicated submission of probe report by June 19 to the Mayawati government.

Students, who appeared in the CPMT held last month for admission to six UP government medical colleges, had staged violent protests across the state alleging irregularities in the entrance test result announced on June 14. A student had also committed suicide.

More than 80,000 students had appeared in the examination for admission in the state medical colleges, of which about 15,000 were called for counselling. The medical aspirants had demanded the rechecking of all the answer-sheets.

Taking prompt note of the student unrest, the UP government had stayed the counselling of successful candidates and ordered a probe into the entire matter by the committee.
