Hubli, June 18 (UNI) Confusion prevailed during the meeting presided over by Karnataka Minister for Water Resources K S Eshwarappa and attended by representatives of people from four districts of Mumbai-Karnataka region over the Kalsa Bandori drinking water project for diverting the Maydayi waters into the Malaprabha river today.

Was the meeting convened by the state government or by the BJP leaders to settle things politically was the question haunting the representatives in general and Congress leaders in particular.

Congressmen, who spoke on the occasion, asserted that congress president Sonia Gandhi was misguided by their Goa counterparts and contended that she never intended to do injustice to the people of Karnataka. They also assured all support and cooperation in implementing the project as early as possible.

Mr Eshwarappa clarified that the meeting was convened by the BJP MP Prahlad Joshi and he was invited to preside over the meeting. The government would soon hold a meeting of all representatives and the agitators, who were fighting for the implementation of the project, he added.

The Minister said tenders for the project work had already been invited and would be opened on June 21. The work order would be issued soon, he added.
