Breakaway HC ready for unity, but reject bilateral talks with India
Srinagar, Jun 18 (UNI) The Majlis Shoura, the highest decision making body of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC) today said it will extend its full support to any unity move among the separatist organisations.
However, the Majlis Shoura meeting held under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, said it rejects the bilateral talks with India and a four-point formula of Pakistan President on Kashmir issue.
The meeting held to discuss the overall present situation in the Kashmir valley, also discussed the latest statements from some leaders about the unity among the separatists.
The members of the Shoura during the discussion said that they were in favour of unity among the parties fighting against the ''Indian occupation'', a spokesman of the HC told reporters after the day-long meeting.
However, the members said unity with other groups should not be done at the cost of basic Kashmir issue.
He said the HC was formed in 1993 by different separatist parties after adopting a Common Minimum Programme (CMP). However, after the constitution was adopted, it was clearly mentioned that the United Nations resolution or tripartite talks between India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir could be the basis for resolving the Kashmir issue.
Without mentioning three rounds of talks between the HC (Mirwaiz) and the centre, the breakaway HC said any move which is against the Hurriyat constitution will not help to reach anywhere on Kashmir issue. These moves will not only damage the Kashmir cause but would helped India harden its stand, the meeting said.
Spokesman said the Kashmir issue is being seen as a border dispute between India and Pakistan now.
The basis for addressing the Kashmir issue should be UN resolution or tripartite talks, the HC said, adding we reject the bilateral talks and the four point formula and other road maps.
