AIR largest radio network in the world
Dharamshala, June 18 (UNI) All India Radio (AIR) is the world's largest radio network with over 36 crore listeners, AIR Jalandhar station director P D Mallik said today.
Addressing a workshop of the station directors and programme officers of the AIR here, he said other networks and entertainment channels would never pose a threat to the AIR under any circumstances.
Mr Mallik called upon the station directors to take the Right to Information (RTI) Act seriously and provide information to the people as early as possible.
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Deputy Director General of the AIR, T Dolkar said the network was rendering a yeoman's service to the people residing in the far-flung areas of the country by providing them information from every corner of the world.
She asked the station directors to bring more transparency in their working and said they should to work in a manner to inculcate more peoples' faith in them.
Shimla AIR director T K Rawal suggested improvements in the quality of the programmes, saying improvement in the quality of the programmes would help in generating more revenue to the organisation.
Dharamshala Station Director M R Chandel, Rohtak Station Director Prem Narain and Patiala Station Director A S Pal besides Programme officers of Hamirpur, Hisar, Kurukhestra, Chandigarh and Batinda AIR stations were also present in the workshop.
