Admit OBCs at your own risk: SC to educational institutions

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) The Supreme Court today warned that any educational institution including universities if found providing 27 per cent reservation to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in admission despite the stay order passed by this court, will be doing so at their own risk.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and P P Naolekar issued the warning when a lawyer brought to its notice that Symbosis University, Pune was admitting OBCs in violation of the orders of this court.

The apex court had directed that the government notification providing 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in centrally run educational institutions of higher studies will not be implemented from the current academic session 2007-2008.

The Supreme Court, however, directed that the contempt petition shall be heard by the constitution bench with the main case.
