3 treasury officials of Chhote Udepur held for embezzlement

Vadodara, June 18 (UNI) Three government officials of the treasury department of Chhote Udepur in the district were arrested today for allegedly committing embezzlement worth Rs 9,37,764.

Officer R J Baria of Karagam village, Jambhughoda taluka of Panchmahals, clerk B D Rathwa of Chhote Udepur and M S Rathwa of Jethpur village of the district were apprehended by the economic offences cell here, police said.

The three forged the signatures of pensioners, while their medical bills were submitted and prepared bogus vouchers. The racket was detected two months ago and the district treasury officer B S Anagwada ordered an inquiry.

On basis of his report, district DSP then forwarded the report to the economic offences cell, which made the arrest, they added.
