2 minors of family killed, 4 injured as car hits footpath

New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) Two children of a family were killed and four others injured when a car grazed past a footpath in Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi early this morning.

While Ankit,3 and Sonu,6 died on the spot, all the injured, belonging to the same family, have been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in a serious condition, said a police official.

''The accident took place at about 0300 hrs,'' he added.

The injured include Lalchand, his wife Suman, his brother-in-law Somvir and one-year-old son Anu, he said.

The driver of the car, Darpan Mallik, a call centre employee who was on his way from his Faridabad office to his home in Janakpuri, has been arrested.

Mallik was reportedly sozzled and driving fast. He lost control and hit four vehicles before grazing the pedestrian way where the family was sitting.

The family, which had come from outside Delhi was waiting for an auto.
