TMMK appeals to Centre, state to stick to quota

Coimbatore, June 17: The Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) spearheading a struggle for reservation and other rights of the Muslim, today appealed to the UPA government at the Centre and the state government not to fall back on the reservation issue.

Speaking to reporters here, TMMK general secretary Hyder Ali said the party would oppose any 'move intended to stall' the reservation which was a poll promise during the 2004 general elections and the 2006 assembly elections. He said this had even figured in the UPA's Common Minimum Programme (CMP).

He said the party would resort to any kind of agitations to get reservation in employment and services.
