Nandigram, Jun 17 (UNI) Three media cameramen were fired at when they were approaching Jananighata brick kiln here this afternoon, where arms and ammunition had previously been found after the March 14 massacre.

Acting on a tip-off that there were more arms and ammunition hidden in the area, Aaj Tak cameraman Sanjib Dubey, Sanmarg photographer Suman Mondol and CNN-IBN cameraman Utpal Adhikary had gone to grab visual proofs.

However, even before they could do so, some people from within the brick kiln fired four rounds at them, police confirmed.

The frightened media persons fled from the area and took shelter in a nearby shop, from where they called the police.

Police later arrived on the spot and rescued them. No one was injured in the firing.

However, no arrests have been made so far, West Midnapore SP S Srinivasan said.
