Mumbai, June 17: An e-mail threatening to blow up Mumbai's commercial hub, World Trade Centre, was received last evening.

Following the the threat, which was sent through an e-mail to S R Jadhav, senior manager of the WTC, the security in and around the commercial complex has been stepped up.

According to the Cuffe Parade police officials, under whose jurisdiction the Centre falls, the threat was received yesterday at 1617 hrs, and subsequently security around the complex was tightened.

''Though we have been maintaining a strict vigil in and around the complex, in view of the fresh threat, we have beefed up the security further,'' the official said. The source of the mail is being probed, the official added.

This is the second time the Centre has received such a threat. Earlier, on May 24, both the police and WTC management had received anonymous phone calls and a letter saying the Centre would be bombed.
